The UAE announced (26 January 2022) the resumption of arrivals and transits from a group of 12 countries in Africa. Passengers from these countries, or who have passed through these countries, have been barred from entering since the advent of the Omicron Covid variant.

Passengers from South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Congo, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe will be accepted from 29 January 2022.

The conditions for entry for the above passengers are not yet known, nor is it yet understood if this applies to vaccinated passengers only. Industry is awaiting an announcement from Emirates.
